Auto Rickshaw Advertising in Pune: 2026 Rates, Areas and Fleet Guide

What auto rickshaw branding actually costs in Pune this year, how many rickshaws we run across Pune and PCMC, which areas suit which brands, and how a campaign is planned, fitted and proved. Written from our own operations — Pune is our home city and our manufacturing unit is here.

The short answer

In Pune, hood advertising costs ₹499 per rickshaw plus 18% GST on a minimum of 200 rickshaws, and back panel advertising costs ₹150 per rickshaw plus GST on a minimum of 500. Both are one-time costs, not monthly rentals — the branding is printed, stitched and fitted once, and it stays on the rickshaw for roughly six months of Pune sun and monsoon. We run a fleet of about 5,000 rickshaws across Pune and the PCMC belt, permissions are included in the rate, and every fitted rickshaw is photographed with live GPS coordinates so you can audit the count yourself.

Rates

What auto rickshaw advertising costs in Pune in 2026

Pune rates are the same as our national rates. We do not price a Pune campaign differently because a brand is large, or because the enquiry came through an agency. The rate card below is what we quote, and the only thing that moves it is volume.

Format Rate per rickshaw Minimum order What it covers
Hood advertising₹499 + 18% GST200 rickshawsFull canopy over the driver — front, both sides and top. Printing, stitching, fitting and permissions included.
Back panel advertising₹150 + 18% GST500 rickshawsRear vinyl panel facing following traffic. Printing and application included.
Hood manufacturing (bulk supply)₹399 + GSTBulkPrinted and stitched hoods supplied to fleet owners, unions and other agencies.
Hood fitting only₹149 + GST—Old hood off, new hood on, fitted by our own team.

So a standard 200-rickshaw hood campaign in Pune works out to ₹99,800 plus GST, and a 500-rickshaw back panel campaign to ₹75,000 plus GST. Larger volumes bring the per-rickshaw rate down; that is the only negotiation that happens.

Why our pricing looks different from a monthly rate

Most Pune rate cards you will find quote auto rickshaw branding as a monthly rental — a figure per rickshaw per month, billed for the length of the campaign. Ours is a one-time cost, and the difference is not a discount trick. It comes from the fact that we manufacture the hood.

A hood is a physical object. We print it on 500–600 GSM rexine, stitch it, and fit it to the rickshaw. It is built to stay presentable through roughly six months of daily Pune sun, dust and monsoon. You pay once for that object and its installation. There is no second invoice in month two.

When you compare quotes, this is the number that matters: total rupees to get the branding on the road and keep it there for the campaign. A monthly rate of ₹550 across six months is ₹3,300 per rickshaw. Our ₹499 is the whole cost for the same period. Ask any vendor for the all-in figure over your full campaign length rather than the monthly headline.

Fleet

Our Pune and PCMC fleet: about 5,000 rickshaws

We run a network of roughly 5,000 auto rickshaws across Pune Municipal Corporation and Pimpri-Chinchwad. Pune is our home city and our largest directly-managed fleet, which matters for three practical reasons.

Manufacturing is local. Hoods for Pune campaigns are printed, stitched and fitted without transport lead time. If a hood is damaged mid-campaign, a replacement is usually handled within a day rather than shipped from another state.

Quality control is direct. The fitting team is ours. We are not sub-contracting Pune installation to a local vendor and hoping the count is honest.

You can audit the count. Every rickshaw is photographed at the point of installation with live GPS coordinates stamped into the image. You receive the complete photo set, not a representative sample. If you ordered 200 rickshaws in Pune, you get 200 GPS-stamped photographs.

That last point is worth dwelling on, because it is the thing transit media has historically been worst at. Hoardings can be driven past and verified. A rickshaw fleet moves, which makes it easy for a vendor to over-report and impossible for a brand to check. GPS-stamped installation proof is how we removed that problem from the conversation.

Coverage

Which Pune areas to choose

Pune is not one market. A rickshaw working the Hinjewadi shift carries a completely different audience from one working Sadashiv Peth. Below is how we group the city when planning a campaign, and which advertisers each group tends to suit.

The IT corridor — Hinjewadi, Wakad, Baner, Balewadi, Aundh, Pashan, Sus

Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park and the residential belt feeding it. Heavy commuter volume at fixed hours, a young salaried audience, high smartphone use and strong response to QR codes. Works for fintech, food and quick-commerce apps, gyms and fitness, co-working, consumer electronics, real estate in Baner–Balewadi, and anything with an app install as the goal. Traffic here is slow at peak, which means long dwell time in front of a hood.

The eastern belt — Kharadi, Viman Nagar, Wagholi, Yerwada, Magarpatta, Hadapsar

The second IT and corporate cluster, plus airport-adjacent traffic through Viman Nagar and Yerwada. Similar audience to Hinjewadi with more mixed residential density around Wagholi and Hadapsar. Suits hospitals and diagnostics, banking and insurance, education, real estate, and retail launches.

Central and student Pune — Kothrud, Karve Nagar, Warje, Deccan, FC Road, Shivajinagar, Sadashiv Peth, Swargate

The densest, most walkable part of the city, and the coaching and college heartland. This is where Marathi creative earns its keep. Suits coaching and test-prep institutes, colleges and universities, jewellery and apparel retail, local services, healthcare and clinics. The June–August admission season makes this the most competitive window in Pune for education advertisers.

Camp, Koregaon Park and the old city

Retail, restaurants, hospitality and a mixed local and visitor audience. Shorter trips, denser stops, high frequency of exposure in a small radius. Suits restaurants and cafes, apparel and lifestyle retail, events, and anything with a physical location to drive footfall to.

South Pune — Katraj, Dhankawadi, Bibwewadi, Sinhagad Road, NIBM, Undri

Fast-growing residential Pune with a family-heavy audience. Suits schools, hospitals, home services, FMCG, consumer durables, banking and gold loans, and real estate.

PCMC — Pimpri, Chinchwad, Nigdi, Akurdi, Bhosari, Ravet, Punawale, Moshi, Chakan, Talegaon

The industrial and manufacturing belt, with a large working population and its own retail centres. PCMC is a genuinely separate market from PMC, not a suburb of it, and a campaign that ignores it is leaving a large audience out. Suits automotive and two-wheeler brands, building materials and hardware, industrial suppliers, banking and finance, healthcare, and FMCG.

How many areas should one campaign cover? For most first campaigns in Pune we recommend concentrating on two or three of these groups rather than spreading thinly across all six. A brand seen five times by the right commuter does more than one seen once by five different people. Frequency beats reach at small volumes; once you are past roughly 500 rickshaws, spreading starts to make sense.

Format

Hood or back panel — which to pick in Pune

They are different media, not two price points for the same thing.

The hood is the canopy over the driver. It is visible from the front and from both sides, which means it works on pedestrians, on people in adjacent lanes, and on anyone waiting at a signal. It is the larger canvas and the one that carries a brand message. At ₹499 with a 200 minimum, it is the format for brand campaigns, launches and anything where you need the name to register.

The back panel is the rear vinyl, facing the traffic behind. Its audience is drivers and riders stuck behind the rickshaw — which, in Pune traffic, is a long and attentive exposure. Because the viewer is stationary and close, this is the best format for a QR code, a phone number or a short offer. At ₹150 with a 500 minimum, a back panel campaign covers far more rickshaws for the same money.

A practical way to decide: if the goal is recall, buy hoods. If the goal is a scan or a call, buy back panels. If the budget allows both, run hoods in your two priority areas and back panels city-wide.

Measurement

What reach actually means — and how we calculate it

You will see very large impression numbers quoted for auto rickshaw advertising, usually without any explanation of where they came from. Here is our arithmetic, stated openly so you can disagree with it.

A working auto rickshaw in Pune covers roughly 150 km a day. We estimate roughly 10 people in a position to see the branding per kilometre — pedestrians, other vehicles, people at signals and stops. That gives about 1,500 views per rickshaw per day.

On that basis, a 200-rickshaw hood campaign in Pune produces in the region of 300,000 views a day, or roughly 90 lakh over a month. Our reach calculator runs exactly this formula, and you can change the inputs.

Two honest caveats. First, these are views, not unique people — the same commuter on the same route sees your branding repeatedly, which is good for recall but means you should not read the number as audience size. Second, the 10-per-kilometre figure is an estimate. It will be conservative in Deccan at 7pm and generous on the Chakan road at noon. We publish the assumption rather than the conclusion so you can judge it yourself.

What we can verify absolutely is the count: how many rickshaws carry your branding, and where they were fitted. That comes with GPS-stamped photographs of every unit.

Permissions, artwork and installation

Permissions are included

You do not need to arrange anything. Permissions for running branded rickshaws in Pune and PCMC are handled by us and are included in the quoted rate. There is no separate permit line on the invoice and no paperwork on your side.

Artwork — any language, designed in-house

We handle all artwork. English, Marathi, Hindi or bilingual panels, and we do the design in-house, so getting the Marathi version typeset correctly costs you nothing extra.

On language strategy in Pune: Marathi and English both perform, and the split is geographic. Kothrud, the peths, Katraj and much of PCMC respond well to Marathi. Hinjewadi, Kharadi, Baner and Viman Nagar skew English. Bilingual panels are the safe default for a city-wide campaign.

On design, the constraint is the medium. A hood is read at a distance, in traffic, often at an angle, by someone who has two or three seconds. One headline, one proof point, one action. That is the formula that survives. If the first proof does not read well at road distance, we change it before anything is fitted — that check happens by default, not on request.

Installation timeline

Installation time depends on volume and on how spread out the areas are. A concentrated 200-rickshaw campaign in two adjacent areas fits far faster than the same 200 spread from Chakan to Katraj. Because printing and stitching happen at our own Pune unit, there is no transport lead time in the middle of the process.

We will give you a dated installation schedule with your quote rather than a vague promise, and you will see the fitting progress in the GPS-stamped photos as they come in.

Track record

Brands we have run auto rickshaw campaigns for

Over 12 years we have delivered campaigns for more than 380 brands. Among them: Mahindra, Honda, Hero, TVS, MRF, Swiggy, Muthoot Finance, RR Kabel, Raksha Pipes, Waaree, Wagh Bakri and Naadbramha.

The mix tells you something useful about what this medium is good at. Automotive and two-wheeler brands use it because their buyer is on the road. Financial services use it because trust is built by being seen repeatedly in a neighbourhood. Food and delivery brands use it because the rickshaw goes exactly where their customers live. Building materials and electricals use it because the trade audience — electricians, contractors, hardware buyers — travels by rickshaw all day.

Planning

Planning a Pune campaign by budget

Rough guide to what different budgets buy in Pune, all figures before GST.

Around ₹1 lakh — 200 hoods. The entry point. Concentrate on one or two areas. Right for a local launch, a single-location business, or a first test of the medium before committing further.

Around ₹75,000 — 500 back panels. Wider physical spread than the 200-hood option and better suited to a QR-code or phone-number response campaign. Good for app installs and offer-led retail.

Around ₹2.5 lakh — 500 hoods. Enough to cover three or four area groups with real frequency in each. This is where a city-wide Pune presence starts to feel city-wide.

₹5 lakh and above — 1,000+ hoods, or a hood and back panel combination. At this level we would normally split formats: hoods for brand presence in priority areas, back panels for response across the rest of Pune and PCMC.

On timing, Pune has two clear peaks: the June–August college admission season, when education advertisers take a lot of inventory, and the Diwali retail run-up. Inventory on the busiest corridors commits several weeks ahead of both, so book early if your campaign has to land in season.

FAQ

Pune auto rickshaw advertising — common questions

How much does auto rickshaw advertising cost in Pune?

Hood advertising is ₹499 per rickshaw plus 18% GST on a minimum of 200 rickshaws, so about ₹99,800 plus GST for a standard campaign. Back panel advertising is ₹150 per rickshaw plus GST on a minimum of 500. Both are one-time costs covering printing, stitching, fitting and permissions.

Is the rate monthly or one-time?

One-time. The hood is manufactured and fitted once and stays presentable for roughly six months of Pune weather. There is no monthly rental. When comparing quotes, ask for the all-in cost across your full campaign length.

How many rickshaws do you have in Pune?

About 5,000 across Pune and PCMC. Pune is our home city and our largest directly-managed fleet, and our manufacturing unit is here.

Do you cover PCMC as well as Pune city?

Yes. Pimpri, Chinchwad, Nigdi, Akurdi, Bhosari, Ravet, Punawale, Moshi, Chakan and Talegaon are all covered. PCMC is a separate market with its own audience, and we treat it as one.

Do I need permissions to run branded rickshaws in Pune?

No. Permissions are included in the rate and handled entirely by us. Nothing is required from your side.

Can the artwork be in Marathi?

Yes. We handle all artwork in-house — Marathi, English, Hindi or bilingual — at no extra cost. Marathi performs well in Kothrud, the peth areas, Katraj and much of PCMC; English suits the Hinjewadi and Kharadi corridors.

How do I know my ad is actually running?

Every rickshaw is photographed at installation with live GPS coordinates stamped into the image, and you receive the full set — one photo per rickshaw, not a sample. You can verify both the count and the locations yourself.

How long does installation take?

It depends on the volume and how spread out the areas are; a concentrated campaign fits considerably faster than a dispersed one. You get a dated installation schedule with your quote, and you can watch progress in the GPS-stamped photos as fitting proceeds.

Which Pune areas work best for my brand?

It depends on who you are selling to. The Hinjewadi–Baner corridor suits apps, fintech and fitness; Kothrud and the peths suit education and retail; Camp and Koregaon Park suit restaurants and lifestyle; south Pune and PCMC suit family, finance, healthcare and automotive. Send us the brand and the goal and we will map it.

Do you supply hoods to other agencies or fleet owners?

Yes. Bulk hood manufacturing is ₹399 per hood plus GST, and fitting alone is ₹149. See hood manufacturing in Pune.
